Elk, CA RESULTS

Post by gaelwriter »

First, my sympathy and condolences to those Japanese artists who have suffered personal losses in the calamity that has struck Japan.

Sketchcrawl day was damp and foggy along our stretch of the rugged northern California coast. I visited the small village of Elk, about 20 mi. north of me. I started in the Catholic cemetery that overlooks the ocean at Cuffy's Cove, a dramatic stretch of rocky coastline. The fog almost obliterated the boundaries between ocean, fog, and rock most of the time I was there. I think I caught enough of the ethereal view through the fog to give you the idea.

I stopped in the nearby Elk village and did a sketch of a whimsical beachfront cottage that looked like a castle:

Finally, to a nearby town of Point Arena for a drink, and some sketches of poets reading their work at an open-mike session:

Thank you for your comment for Japan.
I have walked in a thick fog before. Mountains where the fog hangs are fantastic sceneries.
Your sketch reminded me of that.
