April 16 sketchcrawl. Cherry blossoms are gone by this date. The Nats are playing at home. Anyone for sketching in and around the ballpark? Game begins at 1:00 pm. Eastern market is also a good place to sketch, hangout and get some food. In fact the entire Capital Hill neighborhood has some interesting architecture and people watching.

The 2011 BookCrossing Convention is that weekend, so people will be leaving books all over the National Mall. If you'd like to catch one, I'd suggest somewhere around there, such as the sculpture gardens. More info here: http://www.bcindc.zoiks.org

Just a suggestion. :)

Eastern Market and that neighborhood sound like a great place to have a sketch crawl in spring. People, wares, buildings, food everything we might like to draw.

The Sketchbook Project will be in town that weekend at Hillyer Art Space (which is a few blocks north of the National Mall). I think I'll be visiting for the show and would love to meet up with some sketchers.

I think the ball park would be good, but Eastern Market is good too. There are lots of flowers blooming in yards right now so the Eastern Market are would be nice for that. Ballpark is more industrial so not much in flowers there. The waterfront isn't to far away tho.

Getting down to the wire! Sorry I haven't been more on top of this!

Are we all good with the Ballpark?
From skimming the Nat's website, it looks like the cheapest tickets are $10.

What I'm not sure of is how early we can get into the park. The game begins around 1:30, so I doubt we can enter at the usual 10:30 time. (Maybe someone more savy about the park knows when we can get in?)

So, what do you think about this:

Since some people may not be crazy about shelling out any $ for the sketchcrawl, I was wondering what everyone thought about splitting it in two. Meet up at Eastern Market around 10:30 or 11, then those who want to check out the ball game can head over to Nationals Park on the Metro around 1:30, while anyone who felt like staying at the Market can do so.

OK!
Eastern Market sometime between 10:30 & 11.

And then those who are interested, on to the Ballpark afterwords!

I'm down for the eastern market, but then I'll be meeting my sister at the Hillyer Art Space for the Sketchbook Project show. I went today and it was really amazing. 10,000 sketchbook from artists around the world!!! So, if anyone is not interested in the ballgame I heartily recommend checking it out. (Super easy to get to from the Dupont Circle Metro station as well.)

See you all in the AM. Looking forward to it!
