Florence (Italy) [RESULTS]
On Saturday 15 July, I gathered with Roberto, Yukio and Giacomo Filippo in via delle Oche, in the old city centre. We had decided to make our sketches in the narrow shady streets near the Cathedral. We stopped in Piazza Santa Elisabetta, where I sketched the old Torre della Pagliazza (sounds like "Tower of the Dirty Straw"), one of the oldest buildings in town, probably built as a tower-house on previous Roman foundations, then become a jail (hence the name, due to the straw-filled beds inside the jail), later a bell tower and today an elegant hotel!
In my second sketch I portrayed one of the buildings in front of the tower, with the characteristic wooden cantilevers ("sporti") bearing a protruding portion of the building.

Re: Florence (Italy) [RESULTS]
Hi to everyone. I scanned the sketch I did on 14th July. This was my first official sketchcrawl and it's not so long that I've started to do it.

Rob, your works are wonderful as ever!
Giacomo Filippo, I really like your choice of interesting details, they give me the feeling of an ironic look on things that I like so much!
I hope we'll soon see also the sketches by Yukio!
I am so sorry that last saturday I had to go away early and missed the opportunity to talk a little more to all of you, and also to let me show your sketchbooks... I feel sorry for this and I hope we'll have other opportunities in the next Sketchcrawls!
Best,
Lucia

Wonderful sketches of the buildings, the narrow streets, and the people!!
Re: Florence (Italy) [RESULTS]
Beautiful sketches, Jukio! I hadn't noticed that while we were concentrated on architecture, you were carefully studying the people passing by, although they rarely stopped, and if they did it was just for a very short time! You've made a very interesting work, a good start for your first Sketchcrawl! See you next time!

Cool studies of the tower. (thanks for sharing it's history too, Lucia). Great colour studies of the dome at the different stages of light, Roberto! (and funny introduction as always!)
