I did manage to make it to Cambridge yesterday, it turned into a family day out. Here are some of my results.
1. My beautiful 6 year old son through the sun-visor mirror traveling on the way to Cambridge up the A14.
On the move in the car makes the initial sketch a bit shaky, but I think I nailed the essence of him.
Then I spent the evening in front of the telly tidying my sketches up.
2. Still traveling, now on the top deck of the Cambridge Park and ride along Newmarket road.
The back of the bus is probably the worst place to sit for movement, nice perspective though.
I'll post more very soon.

Great sketches, and kudos to doing them in moving vehicles! Don't I know that buses are generally the worst place to draw, but you pulled it off really well. Thanks for sharing!

Re: East, UK [RESULTS]
First stop for us was The Museum of Zoology where we made ourselves comfortable near Mr. Ceratotherium Simum (White Rhino to me and you). This is a fantastic place and packed with loads of skeletons, fantastic material to work with.
1. skull study.
2. ...and tidied up.
3. I sat with my daughter and she had a go, but got very frustrated when it didn't come out right first time. Loads of rubbing out and scrunched up paper!
4. My quick lesson of using basic shapes when sketching, to help her.
5. My son had a go too, he wasn't so worried about results and ended up doing more drawing, great try! 1: Rhino, 2: Pterodactyl, 3: Mammoth (his words, think it was Elephant) 4: Rabbit.
After some pick-me-up sweets we moved on.
More results soon.

Macaruba - That is a super sketch of your son. I like your sketch from the back of the bus...a bumpy spot to sit, but a good view of the passengers. The museum was a good choice for things to sketch...nice job on the skull. I enjoyed your son's sketches...he was very productive.
Re: East, UK [RESULTS]
Fantastic!.....love that white rino skeleton. Nice work.
Re: East, UK [RESULTS]
Nice sketch of your son in the car, and I love that one of all the people in the bus. Looks like you had fun at the museum, and great that you've got your son sketchcrawling too. His sketches are excellent.
Re: East, UK [RESULTS]
Love the bus sketch especially as I know from experience how difficult it is to sketch on those park and ride buses.
So pleased you managed to get out.

Re: East, UK [RESULTS]
After the Zoology Museum we moved on to The Fitzwilliam Museum in Trumpington Street. I didn't want to sketch another static object, so I tried to find a spot where I could get a bit of life into my drawings. I chose to park myself by the Museum shop and café, while the others went for a browse around.
1. Man browsing the museum shop.
2. Ladies in the café.
3. My wife in the shop.
4. My daughter wanted me to do a sketch of her. So, as a joke.
5. She sat by me to have another go. A potted tree near the museum shop.
6. ...and one of my gorgeous 8 year old daughter.
Then time for lunch.
More soon.

Re: East, UK [RESULTS]
Where do you want to go for lunch, kids? There's normally only one answer. "MacDonalds" happy kids mean happy parents! No food for us grown-ups though getting a bit late now and too much opportunity for sketching. MacDonalds coffee didn't hold much attraction so I sneaked in a couple of Starbucks from just round the corner in the market square, Americano with whipped cream, did the trick.
1. Girl in MacDonalds. She didn't look this scary in real life, I just couldn't get her quite right.
2. Deep in conversation with my wife. Mouths are difficult when they keep moving!
3. Another quite lady in the corner catching up on her correspondence.
Ready to make our way home now.
More to post soon.

Re: East, UK [RESULTS]
We made our way back via the Build-a-bear shop couldn't believe how much the kids loved this, they spent a bit of pocket money.
Then took in a great exhibition in the new Arcade shopping centre by Pink Floyd artist Storm Thorgerson http://www.stormthorgerson.com/
1. My final submission profile portrait of my wife as she drives us home, I know this face like the back of my hand.
I'm looking forward to the next SketchCrawl.

Nice sketches Macaruba, I especially like how refined you make the sketches after the second pass. Really like the slightly exaggerated proportions too. Looks like you had a really fun family day out!
