New York Sketchcrawl

Post by bobbyopulent »

Hey, yeah that is a little short notice I will do my best to make it. As a starting point can I suggest the Morgan Library? It just reopened last month after a few years of renovation. I've always been a fan of the place.

other places to start or go to -

brooklyn botanical garden

south street seaport

bryant park - it's small but I'm very fond of this park and there's a lot of activity going on here. It's also right behind the Astor Library (aka the Ghostbuster's library). The picture on the home page is exactly how it looks

lastly, a great place to end the day is in Astoria (Queens) at the Beer Garden. It's a huge outdoor beer garden that serves great Kielbasa (sorry if I mangled that word). It's worth the subway trip and there's plenty to draw there too.

Man, what is it with my friends getting married on sketchcrawl dates? I won't be able to make this one either. I'll probably be planning another New York crawl on a coming weekend though, so keep an eye out.

Have fun and do a sketch for me that weekend.

Am new to this. Love the Morgan as a starting point. What time does this get started?

the morgan library sounds like a good place to start. I haven't been there in years. The South Street Seaport is also a cool place to draw, with those old ships there.

Another idea is maybe to hang out around Lincoln center in the evening when Midsummer Nights Swing is going on.

The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is a bit of a trek from these other places...

I think going to all the manhattan locations sounds best and on the next Sketch Crawl go to locations in Brookly like the B.B.G. What is the date and time for this months SketchCrawl? I am looking foward to it!

Hi all
i just heard about this sketching event and i'm interesed in it, sounds like fun. i'm taking a "drawing NYC" class and thats what we do - go to NY places and draw for about 3 hours. Glad to know there are more artists out there who love sketching city scenes!

Bryant Park anyone?

Post by Cynthea »

Sketchcrawl is coming up very soon... If no one objects, how about we meet at Bryant Park?

It's a good place to people watch, lots of places to sit, and is easy to find.

We can always wander down to the Morgan Library from there, or take the train to the South Street Seaport.

Bryant Park
between 1:30 - 2pm?????
