15th Los Angeles Crawl and post Comic Con special LA Crawl
WOO HOOO!! Let's come up with a location idea for SketchCrawl 15th!!
Also, there will be a special Los Angeles SketchCrawl section the weekend after Comic Con.
Marty, the Paintmonster and his friends are visiting LA from Japan. He would like to meet up with the local crawlers. This would be a great time to invite fellow artists visiting out of town for Comic Con to join the fun during their stay here!! Please spread the word!!
Anyone have cool location suggestion?

Location for sketchcrawl
Great suggestions so far. My suggestion is the Grove + farmers market next door.
Are we having the L.A. Sketchcrawl after Comic-con on Saturday 8/4 - or Sunday 8/5?

LA Sketchcrawl date
I can't make it if Sketchcrawl is going to be on Sunday 8/5 I'll leave it up to the forum to decide if you want to have it on Saturday 8/4 or Sunday 8/5 - if majority votes for Sunday, have fun sketching for me!

Hey, Alina. Since you mention the Getty Villa, there may be another possibility very close to that one. This would be for Crawl #15. The Lake Shrine at the Self Realization Fellowship, on Sunset near PCH. Of course, it is a religious place, but it's all-inclusive of different religions and you don't have to be a religious person to enjoy it, either. It's just a really pretty place with an abundance of things for us to sketch.
Here's a wiki article on the place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-Reali ... ake_Shrine
It's free.
I still have not been to the Getty Villa, but I think you have to make a reservation at least a week in advance and I don't know if they have a limit to the number of people, but I'd guess probably so.

Leeroy,
I visit the Lake Shrine once, and trying to sketch there since it's pretty. But as soon as I pull out my little sketchbook, the Shrine keeper approachs me and say people aren't supposed to sketch or paint there, since it's a place for religion worship not a park ...
I don't think we can bring a group of people and draw, don't think they will be happy about it.

Oh, that's really too bad. They let people take photos. It's a shame they don't let them draw or paint. I suppose I can't practice my religion there... ART.

Just a sudden brain-storm ...
How about spend the up-coming Sunday at Marina Del Rey Fishman Village?! They have live music there almost all day, and pretty sail boat to draw. Parking is easy, and quite possible get free parking in the area too.

mini sketchcrawl sketch!
Alina, thanks for organizing the mini-Sketchcrawl. I couldn't stay long, but it was still fun, and I get a peek into what Chariot Festival was like through your sketches
A link to my sketch from when we were at the restaurant is here:
(I don't know how to paste an image directly into the forum )

Funny. I was at Venice Beach on Sunday, not realizing you guys were there, but I wasn't sketching there. Just a late afternoon with my fiancée.
Anyway, on to Sketchcrawl 15. Where should we do it?
If we can do Getty Villa, cool, but I'm also not against doing it in Little Tokyo. That's my old neighborhood and I know it fairly well, but I never did a lot of sketching of it while I lived there, so it would be nice to revisit it in this way. Plus, we can all gather at Suehiro for lunch or after our crawl to share sketches, etc. I think that would be the perfect place for that. It's more urban than other ideas like the Villa or that vicinity, but could be fun.

RE: Aug 25 Worldwide SketchCrawl
leeroy, Little Tokyo sounds like a good idea. Anyone else with more suggestions? I will be sending a word out when final location is decided.
