So, we had a nice day at the Zoo, the weather co-operated to a certain point and we ended up with a group of almost 40 crawlers.
Thanks to all of you for coming and braving the windy, wet day.
The Zoo was really neat ... the feeding of the Lions was really amazing. We were all standing 3 feet from them, sooo close ... very neat.
Alas I personally had a tough crawl, recovering from a cold. My throat was aching and I was barely able to talk.
I haven't scanned my drawings yet but there isn't much to see, I made few of them and not very good ones ...
My idea of sketching all the crawlers was sadly undoable, especially on a day like that one ... my energies were running very low, I think I drew 10 people out of almost forty ...
BUT that doesn't matter if you all SF Crawlers had a good time!!
Show us some Zoo drawings!!

Had a great time. Enrico's a brave soul, ain't he? Sore and achy, he still made it. I thought that you managed to draw a lot of the Sketchcrawlers even if you didn't draw all of them.
I stayed around till the party broke. It was like a Sketchcrawl Christmas party, complete with tree and all. Maybe we should call the December crawl a Christmas Sketchcrawl, since we won't see most of youse guys till the next year.
I did just a few drawings. I took some photos of the day (blurry, as usual. I hate using the flash). I'll post them tonight.
Great work everybody.

Hi everyone, well I did not make it to the zoo because well I guess my brother and I just had a slow start to the day but we did brave the weather and crowds down at Union Square so I guess in away it was like going to the zoo.. This time around I thought I just focus on faces and mark making with the pencil...
**Hey Biscuit, nice sketches as always dude, the loin is awesome!
** Enrico you are what heck of a trooper, hope you feel better...
Cheers,
erik

^Great stuff guys, really like those portraits.
I smudged up all my drawings when I was carrying them around, so I decided to paint them up in photoshop. Plus I don't think you guys would want to see the same sketches again.
Grumpy bird
Apes on an island
The homo sapiens in their natural habitat
Hope to see you guys again in the next crawl

I just had an idea while looking through all the *results* threads. I remember Flickr having a Geotagging feature, and thought it would be neat if you could browse all the sketches using a map interface. It would take a little effort from everyone to tag them, but I think the result could be really cool. You could tag them with the date too so that all the sketches from past sessions would be on one giant map. What are your thoughts?
Kazz*** Thanks, I digg those monkeys, you just know their up to no good. And I am game for your idea...
donnam*** cool, not too sure how long it took me, hymm, I was working at gestural pace, So if I had to guess I would say under 45 seconds... I have been trying to capture people on the move and this book Fast Sketching has really helped me...
Cheers,
erik

Wow, what a great turnout you guys had!
Sorry to hear you weren't feeling the best Enrico, and I'm sure the wet weather did you no good. Still, I look forward to seeing what sketches you did manage :)
Ronnie, beautiful sketches, that penguin is awesome! and thanks for sharing the photos, looks like a really fun day :)
Erik, what a great collection of faces you've captured. Were a lot of these other crawlers or just people around the zoo?
Kazz, awesome sketches, that bird is great :)

What a fun day--it was my first time at the SF Zoo. The weather was dry, albeit chilly (I like how the rain held off until right after we all got into the cafeteria--it must be that SketchCrawl factor!) The lion feeding was definitely the coolest thing I have seen in a while.
Here are some of my sketches for the day:
The penguins at the end reminded me of my clients!

Nice sketches everyone! A zoo must be the perfect place to sketch!
Biscuit Maker: I love your lion! Looks like you really captured the moment there.
Erik76: Great faces!
Kazz: The grumpy bird is my favorite! It looks really old and...well...grumpy!
Splinesmith: Those animal-sketches are just beautiful!! Especially the ones with the lion - in action! Also, the reindeer whose name is NOT Rudolph. That's funny!
I'm looking forward to seeing more sketches from SF!
