Anybody interested in sketching in the Atlanta area? Downtown Decatur is always good.
Also Old Mill Park in Roswell (ruins of an old textile mill by big creek) and the historic houses nearby are interesting (and challenging to draw), if that isn't too far.

Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Sounds good! I'm pretty sure I can make it. I'm more interested in downtown Decatur or somewhere by MARTA since I can't count on having a car.
Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
I am interested! There are good areas around Kirkwood, Oakland Cemetary, Candler Park, Inman Park, etcetera. If we go further out I could pick up erling.

Oakland Cemetery sounds great to me. Can anyone suggest a convenient meeting place there where we can sketch while we wait for others to show up?

There is a visitor's center we could meet at. I am not sure that is the exact name if the building but you get the idea!
Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Any suggestions on the best time to meet?
Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Any time is OK for me.
Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
1:30 or later is best for me. I am busy in the morning. If others want to start earlier I can just meet you there.
Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
I'd love to join-in too, it's been a LONG time and Oakland Cemetery is one of my favorite places. Afternoon is good for me too.
Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Just checked the weather forecast: low of 19 Friday night, mostly sunny with a high near 48 on Saturday (but breezy). Afternoon certainly looks preferable to morning!
So at 1:30 I'll be sitting outside the Visitors Center/Bell Tower drawing something and looking for other people with sketchbooks or paint boxes.

see you there! I might be a bit late
Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
There's a great coffee shop/bakery, Octane,' across the street (Memorial) behind Six Feet Under, if you need something hot!
Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
I will be there also. Thanks for the " something hot" tip- I might need it!

Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
A group of sketchers met at the Oakland cemetery in Atlanta for Sketchcrawl 42. We had a record turnout of 6 people this time. It was a cold day even though the sun was shining. I managed to do a quick watercolor and pencil sketch of a tomb before a few of us retreated to a cafe to warm up and sketch indoors where I pulled out my ipad and did a quick study of a coffee cup using Artrage.

Three of us didn't have enough sense to join Erling for coffee, but kept on drawing just outside the visitors' center.

After I finished this sketch I wasn't sufficiently chilled, so I went to the nearby MLK historic site and drew until 5 pm. I colored it later at home.
