I've been talking to a few artist friends of mine about sketchcrawling this time in downtown Decatur. There are plenty of things to draw there and always something going on. I am hoping to get a bigger turnout this time around. The weather forecast is looking good at this time.
How about meeting at 11am by the "Celebration" sculpture in the middle of the square, on top of the Marta station. We can draw until like 1pm and then gather at a cafe/bar to replenish and compare sketches, before heading back out to draw some more. Reply below if you plan to join, or if you have any input.

Sounds good! The weather is looking good for Saturday too, so it should be a nice day for outdoor sketching. See you all then.

Met with fellow sketchers today to participate in the 39th Worldwide Sketchcrawl, representing Atlanta and Decatur.
I brought my oil paints and completed a small oil sketch of a street corner in Decatur. Our sketchcrew of 4 was unexpectedly joined by Thomas Jefferson who displayed an amazingly steady hand at drawing, and posed with us for a picture.

I didn't move from the meeting place, doing this sketch while sitting at the base of the Celebration statue.
Judging from the pictures from last year's crawl at this site, I've gotten better, but the tree has gotten worse. Last April it had leaves.

I started with a sketch of a cannon:
Next, I drew the front of my favorite Irish pub in Decatur:
and finally, I did a sketch of our new friend, the gentleman sketcher from Virginia:

Tom and Erling, it was interesting to see your setups, the boxes you had contrived for location sketching with oils or quill pen.
Glad to meet you all, and, Tom, I hope that next time you'll join us for lunch as well as sketching. I guess Sushi Avenue sounded too weird for someone who hasn't had sushi before and we should have picked a different restaurant. But the best part of the day was getting to know each other over a meal, and we really missed your company.
And thanks, Pascal!
