SLC (Utah) SketchCrawl!

Post by lexidawn »

Hey hey! I just came upon this intriguing site and I'm quite excited that I've found it just in time for a sketchcrawl! I'm up in SLC in Utah. This is going to be rad... :D

Lol, guess I don't have any buddies up here in Salt Lake. Well I already have an amazing day planned so it's going to be great nonetheless. I even spoiled myself and bought some new supplies. Beautiful.

I'm still looking for some other items though - I want to get a new sketchbook but I haven't been able to find a really good art supply place for a while (I just moved here). Any suggestions? Maybe online? I want to get another Fabriano - I have the multi-colored one but that's in no way my ideal for watercolors.

Go for it Lexi !

You could try the new moleskine for watecolors ...
or also the other fabriano with brown and white pages ...
that is probably my favorite ... I do my travel comics on it ...

this online store has been pretty good in my experience ...

take care and have a great Crawl !

Sweetness...checked out the blick site and had to literally pry myself away from my mouse as I began adding things to my shopping cart. I ended up just ordering a fabriano and a couple moleskine sketchbooks. I figure I'll try both out and see which one I like best. I'll probably just dedicate one (or two) to sketchcrawls. We'll just have to keep having sketchcrawls so I can fill them up! Thanks Enrico for the tip!

Well, if I could get up to Salt Lake that would be way cool. Maybe I'll just have my own SketchCrawl-Provo. ha! :D

Where in SLC did you plan on doing this? I'm in Midvale. I don't know yet if I can get away for this, but I'd like to know details. And how long, too? Never done this before, but I guess that makes two of us. :)

I agree. I guess the original poster is too busy sketching to let us know where he's doing it. Turns out I couldn't get away to do it today anyway. Don't let that stop you, though. You just go out and sketch something then post it here, I guess. I don't know. As you say it's all very vague. For n00bs at least... :(

So I was super busy yesterday, but I carried my sketchbook with me. And here it is. It's mostly of a football game. (We won!)

I really should be better about this getting online thing! I've been quite busy - I will definitely get better at it!

bella_dae: I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier! I just moved from Provo! (Just graduated from BYU.) It's not too far away. I'm glad you were able to have your sketchbook with ya!

Doug!as & neutronflow: Sorry I didn't see your posts and sorry that it was a vague posting. To be honest, I wasn't quite sure what and where I was going to be so I couldn't say a lot about it! Next SC we'll have to get together and plan it out.

Sorry about that guys! Next SC Salt Lake is going to be all over it!

Alright, first SC down...only a million more to go! Didn't realize that I really don't like people peering over my shoulder when I'm trying to sketch! I ended up making a lot of people think that I was stalking them! Here's a few sketches from the day...

Haha, lunch...weird little sketch because I wanted to eat before it got cold!

By this time I wanted to sketch some things my personal favorite style...

Oh, and I heard Enrico say that a SketchCrawl has yet to be rained out...I was a little worried as it POURED all last week and the night before it was SNOWING in the mountains, but guess what? Saturday was all blue skies! It was definitely meant to be. :D
