I think the FDistrict would be a great place to sketch and crawl.

Financial District sounds perfect and there's such a wide range of spots to sketch.

Turns out I'm going to be in NYC for May 15th SketchCrawl, so I"m not going to be able to attend the SF Crawl. Hoping someone else can pick up the details of crawling in the Financial District. Have a great time!

Ok folks, if it looks like Financial District then I suggest we begin at the Ferry Building (Farmer's Market going on at same time), say at around 10:30 or 11. We did one starting from there a few years ago and all met outside Peet's Coffee and that worked pretty well. It's also easy to get to transport-wise.

We should think about an end point though, to finish at around 4:30 to look at each other's sketchbooks etc. Any suggestions for this?

One place I usually go at the end of a sketching day in SF, though it's more SoMa than Financial District is Rickenbacker's Cafe on 2nd and Minna, because there are loads of really cool old motorbikes hanging from the walls in there, and it's never too busy. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=san+franc ... 65,,0,5.35

Another good ending point would be up near City Lights bookshop, on Columbus and Broadway. A good stopping point at the edge of Financial District and North Beach. I don't know the cafes around there but one of my favourite pubs in SF, Specs (12 Adler, musuem cafe), is just across the street, it's a museum alright with tonnes of interesting stuff to look at. Just small though, so not nec. good for a very big group all at once.

But since these groups are usually hugely big, maybe finishing in an open public space might be better, either back at the Ferry Building, or up at Portsmouth Square (I've never been though), or somewhere else. I think defining the end point (rather than deciding as a group on the day) is important though as people join late, or break off from the group into smaller groups, but still have somewhere to end up (and it's a bonus if you can get a beer or a coffee too!).

Any suggestions?

I'm looking forward to this one!

*(of course, we don't have to do Financial district, I'm all for somewhere like Castro or Mission or Yerba Buena Gardens somewhere...)
