these 2 sketches are by Marlene Mayerson

We started the day at this boardwalk cafe. The counter man was staring at a chess board by himself but it appeared that several people came to the counter to stare at it with him. In this sketch, a very tall, slender man in a waiter's uniform with a green jacket took different poses at the counter. On the third try, my hand warmed up and I got a sketch I liked. The fellow on the left was drawn over the warmups. Facing the ocean I drew him warming his back in the morning sun. We started with coffee from the counter man, honey cake brought by Madeline and a Rosh Hashshanah wish for many sweet things in the new year.
These pastel colored apartment buildings have an ocean view. The could be quite at home in Florida and in February, I bet they long to be there.
OK, I fudged the architecture here but these boardwalk pavilions look just like this; but l o n g e r.
He had a sort of pointed head. It didn't stop him from reading so intently he couldn't feel my eyeballs boring into him while I made this sketch. The lady with the umbrella had on a pretty scarf.
The lady in white held one pose for a long time. She must have been a boardwalk fixture because while we watched, several different groups of people came up to join her on the bench, chatted awhile and moved on, to be replaced by others. The fellow in black was from Central Casting: New York type. DId he notice the candy colored awning behind him?
