I'm fairly certain that I'll be in town... Any ideas on where to go?

I went to Governor's Island today and I think it would be a great location for a SketchCrawl. There are great views of the Statue and Manhattan as well as plenty of people to draw. Hopefully the weather will still be okay for outdoor sketching.

Excellent suggestion! Its a great place to visit, even the ferry ride is quite nice.

Yes, I think Gouveneurs Island would be a good place. The ferry is free. There is a possibility of using bikes there.

I'm glad folks are into the Governor's Island idea! Hopefully the weather will be on our side in September.

I guess we shouldn't make solid plans until closer to the date. I was thinking we should find a meeting spot on the island since people might be taking different ferries from Brooklyn & Manhattan.

Looks like I'll be bogged down with work next weekend, but I'll probably get out for a short solo crawl in my neighborhood.

Let's meet at noon near Castle William on Governor's Island. We can stick around there until 1 (in case somebody misses their ferry) and then move somewhere else on the Island. Here's a map pointing out the meeting area.

There are ferries departing form both Manhattan and Brooklyn, it's a quick and free ride. I've heard they've been crowded lately, so you may want to plan out getting to your departure location a bit early. It's worth noting that you can take your bike you, just look out for the special line.
