How do we spread the word ?

Post by enrico »

Any ideas of anyone that I should try and get in touch with regarding SketchCrawl ? I want to spread the word as much as I can ...

Some PR for the first world wide drawing marathon would be pretty fun too ...

Create a poster that art students (or anyone for that matter) could download, print out on the laser printer in the computer lab (every art school has one) and post on the bulletin board. It helps spread the word and abuses school resources, so it's all good! :D

On a more viral, memetic note: How about stickers? Either high quality ones as a mail out or simple home print versions. Put the URL on there and slap it on your art box/car/desk/dog/whatever and the curious shall come.

PR? Well, it is a bit late, but James Jean would be absolutely amazing, he does this amazing travel sketches, and also the reason why I do the same when I travel from now on!

I just sent a note to the president of the NY chapter of the Graphic Artists Guild about the event (with a link to your site and the details). Hopefully she will list it in the weekly e-newsletter that goes out this Friday. I am the chair of the Graphic Design Exchange in the NY chapter, so usually if I ask something be posted it makes it to the e-newsletter. Hopefully, this will get a bunch more artists here to join in the fun.

I also belong to a web community http://www.tribe.net . There are a lot of artists on that site from all over the world. Check it out if you have time...if you don't, I'd be happy to post an announcement of your event there. Just let me know what to post (text, image).

Other places online to get the word out (forums...free to join):

http://www.theAOI.com/discussion.html

http://illustratorspartnership.org/cgi- ... %20=000284

http://www.ConceptArt.org/forums/

http://artscuttlebutt.com/

And then there is this one (to meet up with people with similar interests...also free to join):

http://www.meetup.com/

Hope I didn't overwhelm you with all the info! Hopefully they might be useful to you.

Well, I just found out about it about 10 minutes ago from a LiveJournal post. The girl who wrote about it lives in NYC, so maybe she found out about it through the GA Guild. I've been looking for a good excuse to start sketching again, and this is it.

I'll be posting about it in my LJ too, oh, and this Canadian dance forum that I'm on (in the non-dance topic threads).

I can write an article about it in my school newspaper. I'll write it for the december paper, and again next year on the october paper.

Also, maybe some printable flyers from the site? That'd be great, i'd put them everywhere. :D

Well.. How about a chain e-mail? Of course, you would put a descriptive and non-threatening subject header on it, and you (Mr. Casarosa) would send it to your drawing buddies, and they would send it to their drawing buddies, and so on and so forth. Also, anyone who reads these posts could start up a chain e-mail of their own.

Or, if you have an Instant Messenger Service, like AIM (which I use), you could just IM your friends about this, explain it to them, and have a fun time. :)

Post on the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/artistsjournals2/ and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/everydaymatters/ groups.

And, what about a yahoo group for Sketchcrawl?

sharing the news

This morning I shared information and the sketchcrawl.com link with members of the online caricature forum I belong to. Even though it is a busy season for many these quick-draw artists love to create.

I would love to get an email when a new sketchcrawl date is planned; it makes me sad to miss them!
