This month's SketchCrawl snuck up on me! The plan? This Saturday, October 26th at Pacific Fair. We'll meet up at 1pm and wander Pacific Fair until we find something interesting to draw (architecture? people? who knows!). And we might sit down somewhere to sketch a mug of hot chocolate (or tea or coffee) if we happen to spot such a place. For specific details (like where at Pacific Fair to meet up), see the SketchCrawl Gold Coast Facebook Page.
We had a lovely, small, very last-minute SketchCrawl this afternoon. We meet up at Caffe Cherry Bean at Pacific Fair in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. From there we went to one of the food courts, surveyed all the food options, and found a great perch near a window. We proceeded to eat things like spicy tofu, prawn burgers, nori-speckled french fries, and crunchy lotus chips, almost forgetting to sketch for a moment or two. That wouldn't last, however, and soon the table of wrappers and still-being nibbled-upon food was even more cluttered with sketchbooks, watercolors, pens, and pencils.
We drew our food (or what remained of it) and the view of skyscrapers, trams/buses/cars/helicopters, birds, boats, water, trees and pedestrians.
After that we headed to another spot in the mall with some seating near a children's play structure to draw people and objects in the vicinity.
At that point, we realized time was up! The afternoon flew by and sketching and painting was such a wonderful way to spend it.
