By the way, Enrico, why don't you just post one of yours - for instance this one here?

Here´s another classic: John Singer Sargent.

And yet another: Mariano Fortuny. Unfortunately I can´t find any good image of his amazing waterclours. I hope this little one will give you an idea.

We all know his father work for classics such as Treasure Island but so you realize how good his son is as a watercolorist?

Awesome watercolors! Wow I wish I can paint in watercolors like that. Watercolors are really hard to control, but a really fun medium

Thank you for the inspirations! My contribution is Ronald Jesty, a British watercolorist. His work enchanted me even in small reproductions in some of my "how to make art" books so I remembered his name. This year I found his work in a gallery in England (Quarr Gallery in Swanage). Seeing this picture and then sketching the place myself the next day moved my sketches to a level that made me happy.

His work is so simple, so masterful, such gorgeous color:

I get my inspirations from books by authors such as Charles de Lint http://www.sfsite.com/charlesdelint/, and Brian Froud http://www.worldoffroud.com/index.html. Also Stephanie Law at Shadowscapes, and my watercolor teacher, Rob Erdle http://www.watercolorworldwide.com/gallery.html.
