For this summer sketchcrawl we met at the Campus of the University of Vienna also known as "Old AKH" (Allgemeines Krankenhaus, Old Vienna General Hospital).
The origins of the University medical center dates back to 1693. At the end of the 1990ies this area became the new Campus of the University of Vienna.
If you are interested in history have a look at this two sites:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_General_Hospital
http://campus.univie.ac.at/en/history-of-the-campus/
In the several yards of this former hospital you will find old and modern architecure, some monuments, fountains and shady trees as well as three restaurants and a cafe.
Two new talented sketchers (Anita and Wolfgang) showed up and we spent some hours sketching and talking. Sketching today was very inspiring and Anita and Wolfgang proposed we should meet for a random sketchcrawl.
Anita and Wolfgang sketching in front of The Narrenturm (Fool's Tower), the oldest building in Europe for the accomodation of mental patients.
Nowadays home to the Federal Pathologic-Anatomical Museum Vienna.
John joined us later this afternoon with just enough time to draw the small chinese garden in one of the yards.
