Well, we went to the site of the 1964 Worlds Fair. It is in Queens and a bit out of the way. That, and the fact it looked like rain, probably kept many away. We also lost alot of our sketchers to Barcelona, as several were teaching or participating. So sadly, there were only four of us, but we had a great time and alot of exercise, laughs, and good fun!

My sketches were of the Unisphere, and the NY State Pavilion. The pavilion was designed by the famous architect Philip Johnson. We also did some sketching by the childrens rides.

I wasn't able to join the NYC Urban Sketchers at Flushing Meadow Park for this crawl. I was up in Maine visiting family and was planning on driving home on Saturday and I would be doing the driving. I wanted to get something sketched, so I took some art materials along when I went out for my morning walk.

First I did a very quick sketch by the waterfront behind the buildings on Main Street in Damariscotta. The gnats were out in full force so I really sketched this one quickly because they were annoying. This sketch took about 5 minutes.

Then I sketched the Pine Tree Yarn Shop on Main Street.

Finally I walked up Glidden Street and saw this tree.

It was fun sketching in Maine, but it is a lot more fun to do the sketchcrawl with a group.

Great watercolours Susan. Nice to see the takes of the pavillion from two different angles.
Really nice sepia tones Joan, gives a great touch and atmosphere. Well done for putting up with the gnats! Flies and such can be really annoying, especially while drawing at places like the zoo during summer.

Thanks, Dave. If it isn't gnats it would be rain or cold or wind. lol Outdoor sketching always comes with such adventures. lol Thanks for coming to view the sketches.
