Sydney, Australia

Post by borrominibear »

HI Everyone,

Any ideas for the sketchcrawl in Sydney???
I just realised while typing this that I will not be in town, but in Melbourne instead.... but I will start the Sydney thread anyway.

I say Cockatoo Island again. I know the Urban Sketchers were there two weeks ago, but I want to go again for one. It is the perfect time of the year. Not too hot, not too cold. We might get a fine day this time, but if not there is plenty to sketch inside. Personally I can't go to Cockatoo Island enough.

I would agree Wendy

Cockatoo Island is a good place for a sketchcrawl. easy access, food, shelter and fantastic sketching opportunities !

think I agree with Meegan's suggestion of victoria park/sydney university - we have not been to syd uni for maybe 18 months, and it was a location that I had suggested for the crawl in April 2012 but then I am pretty sure we went to cockatoo on that occasion - wonder what everyone else thinks ? easy inner city area as far as public transport is concerned, there is some cover (or if raining can go into the Macleay Museum) but just need to BYO snacks unless we adjourn to Glebe Point Road for late lunch ?

Macleay museum only open first Saturday of the month. I far prefer to go to cockatoo island before winter comes.

A venue has been decided!

In view of being rained out of a few sketching days recently, we made a group decision today to go for an indoor venue this time. It's the Powerhouse Museum. Here's a link to their Whats On page
http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/exhibitions/

For how to get there...

Meet in the foyer prior to 10am to find us. The museum opens at 9.30.
Otherwise look for anyone with a sketchbook.
Hope to see you there.

The powerhouse Museum now opens at 10am on Sundays. We are till meeting at 10am to go into the museum, but the foyer will not be open until then. Meet outside or arrive on the dot.
