Johannesburg, South Africa [Results]

Post by CathG »

We had quite a good turn out of seven sketchers, plus a couple of shoppers - we went to the 'New' Chinatown in Cyrildene (the old one in the city has got a bit dilapidated and abandoned) and sketched the restaurants and the wonderful fresh vegetable markets that spill onto the street. We had a delicious lunch at midday which rather stymied our sketching as we were all too full and sleepy to carry on much after that!
These sketches are by Ann Ludwig:

More to come I hope by the others....

I can feel great town's vitality  It must be a popular place there. I love each depiction of signboards, containers as well as shoppers /sellers gesture

Thanks so much everybody - Philippe, yes, it doesn't look much like South Africa, but Johannesburg is very cosmopolitan!

Many nice things by good artists, but my favorite has to be Cathy's flowing line and bright color...so appropriate to the subject! :D Thanks for drawing, y'all!
