Mendocino Coast, CA [Final Results]

Post by gaelwriter »

Early morning fog but it was gone by mid-morning. I had to sketch alone again this time, so I stuck close to my favorite, Point Arena locale. It's a sleepy, backwater area along the northern Caifornia coast, and there's a lot of historical material to sketch.

Image
This is a circa 1920 Fordson Tractor, a massive behemoth with cleated, double rim steel wheels. The farmer's back must have been broken by day's end. Right now it's just a rusting time capsule, sitting tired and forlorn at the side of a local road.

Image
This is an example of some of the Victorian architecture we have, with lots of intricate roof lines and ornate trim.

Image
This is a seemingly deserted house on Main Street in town. Most of the windows are boarded up, except one, which is a bit of a mystery. Is someone in there?

Whoops, the privacy issues are confusing on the hosting services for images. Picaso had a checkoff box I thought would be appropriate, i.e. the images would be open to "anyone with the link." However, even though my Preview showed the image postings would be viewable on SketchCrawl, they apparently weren't. I returned to my page to check and I was blocked, too. Then, I went back to Picaso and checked box for the images to be viewed by any of the public. It seemed to work. Thanks for viewing and your feedback.

Hey Gaelwriter,
Thanks for checking out our posts! I painted a similar tractor last summer, but yours is much better! Nice color. And the trees in your other picture have an easy feel about them, too. Glad to see your art.
