Sydney Australia [Results]

Postby borrominibear » Sat Apr 21, 2012 8:06 am

A absolutely wonderful day at Cockatoo Island with nearly 30 sketchers. I didn't stay all day (as I normally do ) but my sketchcrawl became a teacrawl as I spent 2 hours in my favourite tearoom ... sketching my tea and finishing off my sketches from the day.
So here they all are....

Thanks to everyone who turned up from the sydney sketch club - http://www.meetup.com/art-494/

Wooau! You in Australia you have an advantage: the day begins earlier. In the Canary Islands, (Spain) begin to draw in one hour. Beautiful sketches. Greetings.

Well done Aussies. I'd recognise that Sydney sandstone anywhere.
Neat style.
Excellent idea to head out to the island. Plenty of subjects to draw, including the ferries.
You were keen drawing your kit in advance & your eats. Hope the tea wasn't too cold before you drank it.
Cheers S

We had a GREAT sketchcrawl at Cockatoo Island, http://www.cockatooisland.gov.au/, yesterday. I've been out there sketching four times in the last 3 weeks and hope the weather holds so I can go more. Though it is autumn it was a beautiful summer-like day, after a heavy fog. I've made a concertina book especially to draw pipes, pipes and only pipes, and yesterday I started to draw in it. It's got a metallic cover and black cog-things stuck on it.

30 sketchers would have enjoyed a feast of sketching in the island. Your tea sketches are great as always and the map with detailed explanation is inspiring. Alissa's various drawings are nice, especially the pencil case. And Quirkyartist's series of plum sketches is impressive too.

Hey guys,

Thanks so much for holding such a great event Sydney, what a great turnout! Fantastic work all round. Really enjoyed my time.

So this is my iPad sketch and some really bad phone camera photos from the sketchbook. I loved the bizarre scenery, giant cliffs next to giant warehouses. In the overcast light was even more strange. So I hoped to capture that somehow.

Nice meeting the Sydney crew for the first time and I'll see you soon!
