===========================================

So plans for Paris are coming along. Here is the latest :
Our first meetup will be at 10:30, at the Café de la Place, inside the CNIT at la Défense (at the "parvis" level of the main hall, under the big concrete "vault").
We'll be posting more details over the next few days. In case you're not an early riser :) , no problem. We'll be sketching all day, and there will be a meetup for drinks at the end. Check back for more details.

Cheers!

Ok, very quickly to resume: my friends Samantha Zaza and Pedro Fernandes will be going to Kathmandu this summer to volunteer at the SMD school for Himalayan children.

This will be Samantha's third year going, and she has a pretty popular art club now underway over there. Art is not on the school curriculum, so what she brings with her and the time she can spend with these kids is basically what they get, in terms of drawing classes.

I am putting together a "care package" of supplies to be carried over, and every little bit counts! Some items that will be useful include: drawing pencils, good erasers (kneaded ones), pastels, coloured chalk for outside pavement drawing for the little ones, any kind of watercolour or gouache paint, colour pencils, drawing pens, any kind of charcoal (They LOVE charcoal— they had never used it before last summer, and thought it was the greatest thing!), waterbrushes, brushes, small palettes— now, I use an old empty pastille tin for my own palette, so if people who eat pastilles or something like that, could collect them, then we could use them as palettes, markers.

SO! On Saturday I'll be bringing a bag with me in case anyone else would like to pitch in. We'd love to get the kids on this forum, to get them sketching on the 17th July and sharing their drawing with everyone on SketchCrawl. Internet connections and computers aren't always reliable, but we're going to try :D

For more info, you can see her blog posts from past years here.

Aaaand... that's it I guess. See you all Saturday!
Cheers

Conclusion : en métro c'est moins cher.

-----

If you take the RER A to "Grande Arche de la Défense" Station, you should know that it's in the 3rd Zone, so you have to buy a special ticket (2,50 €) from anywhere in Paris, even if you have a Navigo Pass (zone 1&2). The metro ticket T+ is not valid either.

BUT, If you take the Metro Line 1 to "La défense Grande Arche" station at the end of the line, this station is in this case in the 2nd Zone, so you can go with a normal metro ticket T+ or with you Navigo Pass 2 zones (1&2)

Conclusion : metro is cheaper.
