Vienna, Austria [RESULTS]

Post by m9fred »

For this Sketchcrawl we decided to draw around the District Heating Plant "Spittelau" designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
At ten o'clock John and I met at the subwaystation Spittelau and he began to draw immediately. Due to some family affairs he had tp leave just as the other sketchers arrived.
Unfortunately the view of the power plant and the remarkable facades was severly limited by a construction site fence. Temperatures barely above freezing and strong winds made us stop sketching outdoors. In a nearby restaurant we warmed up our fingers and had a delicious lunch.

I'm very impressed by your subject (the heating plant) and by your sketches of the plant. Usually, utility plants are ugly structures. The plant there is beautiful in reality and in your pictures. Finger painting looks like fun. (Maybe I would be able to paint more loosely using finger paint. I might try this.) The collaborative picture done by Arco Iris and Riot is just great. Best wishes, Mary

Fun sketches of a very interesting looking building. I like how you were able to sketch indoors too...even a bottle cap can be a good subject. Thanks for sharing your work.

Wow! I wish our public buildings were more artistic and less "pioneer" in USA. :D My mother's hometown is Vienna.
I really enjoyed your drawings---it has been so long since I visited Wien!

It looks indeed a beautiful and inspiring place to draw  ( seems a bit like an amusement park building or something) Love each diverse expression! And the meal must be good, I recall when I visited Vienna long time ago.
