Vienna, Austria [RESULTS]

Post by m9fred »

This time we met at the main building of the Vienna University of Technology. It was a bright and sunny day unfortunately with a chilly and unpleasant wind. Close to the university we settled down in front of St. Charles's Church (Karlskirche). This church is a masterpiece of baroque architecture and one of the cultural landmarks of Vienna. In front of the church there is a shallow artificial pond with a Henry Moore sculpture ("Hill Arches").

Sitting in the sunshine and more or less sheltered from the wind we made our sketches of this church and some architectural details. A few of our group drew there sketches in the nearby park and a children's playground. Almost all the time while we were sketching a man was playing his accordion, repeating a few songs over and over.
I was astonished to see Quilterin drawing sketch by sketch while I struggled not to get lost in details. And Arco Iris made some experiments with tracing paper to add color or some bold outlines.
Around 15:00 we we had a quick lunch in a nearby restaurant, shared our drawings and warmed up our fingers.
