What a lovely display of sketches, davidjack.
It would be fun to see them enlarged. It looks
like a great sketching time.

Here we go!

Image

My first sketch was on the train station (Milson's Point) going from home to the Sketch Crawl

Image

We met in this lovely Irish Café at the Rocks (I actually ended in a different floor, long story)

Image

The group was meeting later on in the Opera House but was raining too much! Some tried to sketch anyway... Oh fearless sketchers!

Image

We had lunch in a Café in the Botanic Gardens. Lovely group :) They were more, many more...! I just draw my table.

Image

We sketched in the Botanic Garden, it was really nice to have the opportunity of doing something really different!

Another edition more gone! Was great!!

Oh! The sketches are in a better resolution on my blog: http://www.imaginajack.blogspot.com :D :D :D

i love your sketches and style.
that is the style i see in my head, just doesnt come out on the paper.
what colours were you using, that light approach is really great.

Well done Snidnees! That rain didn't make it north to Brisbane. Thanks for keeping it south. Great work and location choices

Janine,

My sketches are made with a mechanical pencil line for the composition, then on top of it i used this time a Japanese calligraphy pen (I normally use pilot pens). The color is applied with water brush and the watercolors are "school watercolors". The paper is a sketchbook 150gsm.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Wow, what a great array of sketches, great color work! It seems that going to the botanical garden was a great idea. Can't wait to see them big.

I only joined the sketchcrawl after lunch. In the morning I was teaching a sketching class in the Royal Botanic Gardens, so we had our own sub-sketchcrawl in the morning too. We went to the Tropical Centre both in the morning and the afternoon. It was the rainiest April day for ten years. The tropical centre is in three sections, each with a different climate. It is often very hot and damp in there, but this time it was very dry compared to outside, and not so hot because no sun.
I drew a four-page spread in the handmade book we made in class.
