For any of those not part of the FB group I just posted this message to the group
------------

So it has just been brought to my attention that since the last time I checked SketchCrawl.com the website layout has changed, but more importantly we have been brought a challenge for SketchCrawl 31! http://www.sketchcrawl.com/2011/04/ww-sketchcrawl-31/ (please click the link and read about the concept)

That challenge is to try and raise money for the Victims of the Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan. Which I think is a wonderful idea and the Zoo would be the perfect place, especially on a Saturday. But since the Zoo is technically private property I'm going to call and verify that the plan is copacetic.

If they're ok with the plan, I'm thinking everyone who wants to participate (by no means a requirement) can wear a red shirt and maybe we'll come up with some official button or something that says you're part of the fundraising effort. And maybe if some people feel compelled they could offer to do caricatures for donations, maybe even get special buttons for that as well. Let me know if you're interested and I'll let you know more once I've done a little more research on the logistics of dealing with the zoo.

Since I lived in Japan when I was younger this is a cause that really hits home and I really hope we can work something out and that everyone interested can take pride in helping out those in need.

Have a wonderful weekend!
(sorry for the lofty message)

--- REPOSTED FROM FACEBOOK GROUP ---

Subject: UPDATE: WE CAN'T TAKE DONATIONS

I checked with the LA Zoo and since they are a non-profit they cannot permit us to raise money on their grounds. Which is completely understandable. Basically if they let us raise money then they have to let everyone do it and even though our cause is in the right place they cannot allow it.

Since almost every inch of LA is private property this gets a bit tricky. I really don't think raising money During the SketchCrawl is going to work.

BUT, If you would still like to raise money on your own by telling your friends, relatives, coworkers, etc that you are going out drawing to support the Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Emergency fund. You are more than welcome to collect the donations and submit them yourself to GIVE2ASIA http://www.facebook.com/l/e6f8bnF00t_1R ... rtistshelp

So this will just be a regular SketchCrawl and we will still be holding it at the LA Zoo.

Thanks for all the interest! See you all in a couple weeks
