Honolulu-Ala Moana Center [RESULTS]

Post by metaloxmike »

Aloha from Hawaii!

We had a great time sketching around Ala Moana Center, Hawaii's largest shopping mall.

Welcome to the new sketchers, Joan:

and her gang: Hank, Sally, Paula & Nancy:

And welcome back some returning sketchers we haven't seen in a while--Dee & Hugh:

The first one that met me was Doug:

After Dee, Hugh & Joan came up to us, Rochelle & Mark arrived a little later:

Then we got to it:

Hello again, everyone!

Sorry I had to cut the last post short, but here are the other sketches for the day:

After all that sketching, we met up at the Food Court to eat and compare sketches.

Here's John & Min

Joan, Hugh & Min are checking out Mark's Fabriano sketch book.

Here are Nancy, Sally & Joan discussing techniques.
Image

John started jotting down some notes for Mark on a food court napkin with his
fountain pen, then realzed what a nice result the pen and paper had together!

Talk about sketching and art on the brain! :-)

Here's a group shot of most of us.

Min is in front, then Hank, Hugh, & Dee are seated. Standing in back are Mike, Joan, Paula, Sally & Nancy.
Rochelle & Doug had to leave before we could get them in the picture.

Oh, and that lady in white on the left is Debbie. She was interested enough about what we were doing that
she gave us her contact info so we can invite her to our next crawl. Converting the masses to sketchers, one
person at a time!

Well, that was our sketchcrawl. I hope you enjoyed our sketches! If you would like to see some of the pics
that we didn't post, you can visit my Flickr site. I am also Sketcher 79. Here is the link:

Glad you liked the first post, Unversitaria. I hope you enjoy our latest post!

I also went to your Rio results. Your group did great work! I really enjoyed it all. Keep up the good work, and see you in the postings.

Great stuff! Honolulu is representin'. Especially lke the Louis Vutton/Dior/Escalator sketch. The attitude of the security guard is awesomely captured.

Doug,

Thanks so much for including links to your sketches for the event. Sorry I forgot to get shots of
your work!

These sketches look amazing! I remember you told me that using a Sharpie to sketch forced you
to commit yourself to the drawing more than you would if you were using a pencil or something
else that you could erase. Great results!

Looking forward to seeing you join us again in the next crawl!

Mahalo!

Mike T.
