Well, for once Melbourne turned out a semi-decent weather day. But don't get me wrong, sitting there was still COOLLDD brrr.

This was done at the Carlton gardens but I missed Rob agh! Sorry mate! Hope to see everybody's stuff!

I enjoyed doing this composition - the park bench, old friends talking in front of a lake. A canopy of branches, then the Melbourne cityscape bearing down on top of everything. Looking forward to more sketches wherever you are in the world!

**EDIT placed Rob's images at top post**

Beautiful impression of the Gardens in winter, cold hm? Love the setting, so representative of Melbourne, beautiful backdrop. Were you all alone sketching?
Thanks for delivering my Melbourne to me in Spain, Nori. Maybe I can join you next year.
Cheers, Yvonne

Nori, fantastic job of sketching out there in the cold. The sketch came out so nice and full of cold spirit.

Great image - just love the hint of buildings at the top of the painting - they do appear to be a bit menacing !

- How many sketchers in Melbourne this time? We always have more turn up in Sydney when It is also part our Sydney Sketch Club events. BUt one or fifteen, its always fun to share around the world !

OK it looks like we had a DUAL-SOLO sketchcrawl happening in the same spot! As Nori said, it was a cold day but nice at the same time. Also a bit windy.

Sorry Nori - I was actually in the park from 12.30 to 3.30. I waited at the small pond, then when walking out onto Nichoson I found the BIG pond. Next time for sure. I'm actually planning on doing little sketch trips more regularly so anytime you want to go sketching I'm down.

Here's my day:

Started off in front of a pub, the Napier:

A backstreet behind the park:

Veered off to the city a bit. Found a secluded spot.

Back to Carlton gardens. Trees.

Exhibition building. Had some ink leftover so I tried to use as much as possible.

Nori: Thanks! I love your colours and buildings. Makes me want to do colour next time.
I went old school - nib and brush over a quick pencil drawing. Though when I was kneeling in cold grass I kept asking myself why I didn't bring my micron! ;)

Sunilo: Me too though when I posted them I could they were there. I don't know whats up with them. I put them on my blog here http://robowhat.blogspot.com/2010/08/28 ... ourne.html

Great drawings, Robopop; I especially like the Napier drawing - heaps of character!

Nori, really like the sense of scale in your watercolour, it's as if I'm looking up from a canyon.

Robobop
Expressive linework and dynamic views of the streets.

NoriRoll
Awesome perspective and delicate use of colors, like it.
