Hi everyone; thanks to the Lamma Island sketchers! We met at 10 and by 1pm it was super hot! We drew together at the fishing village near the tiny Tin Hau temple. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed each other`s company as much as the drawing.

I love living on Lamma Island as there are no cars and we are a small group of sketchers who appreciate this sub tropical island get away from Hong Kong city only 25 mins away by ferry.
We have some more sketchers still to post so please come back and visit us soon. I saw Dina yesterday and she promises me she will post hers in the next couple of days in between being a busy Mum and working all day.

Here are some photos of some of our group who were with Vicky and her camera. The little red roofed house is actually a Goddess of the sea or Tin Hau temple run by the local fisherfolk who live in the typhoon shelter in their stilt houses and with their sampans just below in the water. Its a great place to sketch; quiet, peaceful and very painterly!
As you can see the weather was perfect and we had alot of fun.

The scenery is wonderful and you look happy. The drawings are characteristic.

Enjoyed seeing your part of the world with your art and photos. Is the little house with the red roof, a place where the people go to be safe from typhoons?

Re: Hong Kong Lamma Island [results]
Finally had the chance to post mine...
Soon, I have to start learning how to sketch people. It would be really nice to see a
crowd queuing up for some dim sum on this sketch!
The Island Bar. The first bar you'll see after getting off the ferry ( Yung Shue Wan ).
The YSW Football Pitch - Multi-recreational area.
VV which stands for Village Vehicle.
You can still find them around Lamma.

Thanks for posting yours Dina and Jason! They are all great.
Granny C; no, the little house with a red roof is in the boat shelter and is a Tin Hau temple. Tin Hau is local fisherfolk`s protector Goddess, much revered around the South China coast. This must be one of the smallest and cutest temples in HK! Inside is a little shrine with staues of the Goddess and candles, fruit and flower offerings. It smells of incense and is dark and smokey. Its really lovely.
