New York City, NY, USA [RESULTS]
New York City, NY, USA [RESULTS]
We had a good turnout and beautiful weather in Central Park for the NYC sketchcrawl. We drew at the Burnett Fountain in the Conservatory Garden for a while before moving on to the Harlem Meer at the top of the park. A bunch of us got a late lunch at the Metro Diner and talked art afterward. It was great to see so many new faces as well as return crawlers. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's sketches!
Here's a bunch of photos I took of the group:

Alisa - You made a bunch of beautiful sketches! Love both pen sketches and the watercolor. Really feel nice ambience! Love the photos too.
mabeloos - Amazing use of lines and shadows with part color. I like the last one so much.

Oooh..i love your sketches, alisa and mabeloos... Wish I'd gotten there early enough to draw the fountains. I only did a couple watercolors yesterday. I love the Harlem Meer.

Everyone has great work! Here's mine. Harlem Meer and sketchcrawlers.

Great stuff, everybody! I wish I could have joined you.
I was traveling from RDU to JFK, so I drew whenever I had a few minutes. It was a fun challenge, since I never knew how long I'd have to capture a particular subject before one of us had to move on.

Thanks for the comments guys!
Mabeloos- Now I recognize your drawings from the forum! It was nice to meet you in person. Fantastic drawing of the fountain and I really love the brush treatment on the trees.
Cynthea- I love the colors you chose for the building. The shadows really pop. And it's nice to see the painting of the lake finished!
Nelson- Great loose watercolor! I'm curious what type of pens you used. My pilot pen bled alot.
Sunilo- I hope you had a good trip! I really like how you captured all the activity around the plane on the runway.

These are beautiful!
Fantastic personalities you captured, Alisa. I love the bold lines.
Mia, I'm in love with your last sketch, especially those sparse branches of the tree. They almost look like cracks or tears in the paper!
Cynthea, stunning atmosphere. Everything looks so lush.
Nelson, such free lines! Nice composition.
Sunilo, I love that you sketched airport life! Good use of spare color.

It's always fun seeing the NYC sketches, since I grew up in NY. Central Park is a great place to sketch. I love the variety of subjects and styles. It looks like you had a great group.

I love the first one. The print on the stole/muffler looks beautiful.

Loved Cynthea and Nelson's lush watercolors and Alisa's bold charcoal pencil? sketches; and all the rest, too. Great stuff, New Yorkers. From a former Rosedale, Queens compatriot of the Fifties!
