My friend Daniel Gill invited me to Portland Japanese Garden for the sketch crawl where sketched in the cold.

Beautiful sketch, Greg. The Japanese Gardens were something of a hotspot for 'Crawlers. I met someone from your Illustrator's Jam group: Ed Fernandez. We talked for a bit while sketching the zen garden.

I packed up my weapons of choice early Sunday morning...

...and hopped aboard the MAX, traveling all over the downtown area.

My favorite piece from the day came from the Japanese Gardens as well, though the scanned image doesn't capture the original all that well...

Such a great place to sketch. I'd been there a couple years ago when I was visiting friends and I wished I'd had a better camera to bring more of it home.
