Almost perfekt conditions for an outdoor sketchcrawl in February. Bright and sunny sky, comfortable temperatures and a wonderful location: The Vienna Icedream!
We met at Rathausplatz, a beautiful park between The Burgtheater and the Vienna Rathaus. From the last week of January until the first week in March this park is transformed into an ice landscape with two large ice skating rinks connected by (ice-)paths in the park.
Accompanied by classical and modern music you can skate there from 9:00 AM until 11:00 PM. At fair weather this ice-landscape of 5.600m² is crowded within a few hours, especially on weekends and in the afternoon. Nevertheless it's an awesome possibilty for sportive recreation nearly in the urban centre.

Despite of the beautiful weather I felt sick, suffering from headaches induced by foehn (a warm wind which raises temperature very quickly and causes discomfort like migraine to meteorosensitive people). But for all that sketching moving skaters was an fascinating experience.
For the youngest there are this funny penguins to help them by their first steps on ice.

Re: Vienna, Austria [RESULTS]
This looks like a really great fun place to spend a Saturday, and I enjoyed the photos as well as the sketches. Some really good action sketches of the skaters! I love the penguin that the child held on to for support. I've never seen such here in the US, and I think it's a great idea. Some adult skaters could probably use one too.
Re: Vienna, Austria [RESULTS]
Very nice sketches indeed ! I think skaters are not so easy to draw...

What a great location choice for a sketchcrawl, thank you for sharing it with us. Sorry to hear you were feeling sick during it, m9fred, I hope you feel better! John's statue sketch looks cool.
