Chilly day in Atlanta, Ga. We met at the Atlanta Water Gardens on Cheshire Bridge Road where the owners and their three cats, Abba, Winston and Grant, made us very welcome. Expect Marilyn to post further results as she took more photos than I did. a

The photo of the cat peering right into the camera has made me laugh out loud - it's as if it's saying 'what, aren't you going to draw MY portrait?'

the Water Gardens was an interesting and beautiful place. I'm glad I'm aware of it now. Of course, with all the beautiful plants and fountains, I can't help but be drawn to the weirder stuff like the garden gargoyles and stone crocodile. I switched out tools, starting with a carbon pencil, pulling out the brush pen to do a few fish, a mechanical pencil for one of the gargoyles, and also broke out the watercolors and waterbrush pen for one of the pond sculptures. I had forgotten to bring my camera; I would have liked to get some photos of the place. Maybe I'll make a trip back with camera in hand later.

Aladir, I found your post! Thanks for your comments.
Cool! The fountain art feels like it was carved into the page! What kind of carbon pencil do you use? I like the shining light coming from the frog's hand.

Nine of us met for breakfast before proceeding to the Atlanta Water Gardens http://www.atlantawatergardens.com, and five more joined us there for a total of 14 'Crawlers! Here are a couple of shots of our gang at chow and at work. We were very happy to welcome John (whose wonderful sketches appear above), and Nick and Darra (I think that's her name) who joined us for the first time. Thanks to the owners of the Gardens who welcomed us back for our second year of sketching there.

As the group broke up at lunch, we got together briefly to share what we had done. Great fun to see everyone's work!

You all did an enviable job with the fish! What a mix of drawings with fish, cats and gargoyles. :)

Excellent sketches, everyone. The statuary and the koi pond made good subjects.
