St. Georg, Hamburg, Germany (RESULTS)

Post by silgoem »

Sadly we had pretty typical fall weather here in Hamburg today which means dismal, grey, rainy and cold. So any plans I had for going to various outdoor locations pretty much fell through and I just walked a bit around my neighborhood scribbling ink sketches of street scenes and the main-train-station-interior. Since I spent too little time actually crawling I spruced my sketches up a bit at home with Photoshop in greyscales...very fitting for the weather. Anyway here's my haul of the day:

@The_Radish
Thanks. The sketches were drawn with an ink-pen, grey-scales were totally photoshopped :) Usually I do more shading (cross-hatching) by pen but the weather sucked so I didn't feel like doing anything more elaborate than just lineart.

Great results, Silgoem; That oblique perspectives are really striking! and the spatial effect achieved with the steel trusses in the station. The suburban feeling in the railway one is excellent, as well as the two streetscapes.
The grey character of the day is perfectly shown in your sketches... how different from the end-of-summer ones from your 24th sketchcrawl. We in Málaga had a grey, cloudy day. Not good for andalusian standards, but mild temperature and no rain :)

Thanks everyone, glad that you enjoyed my sketches. In the future I'm definitely going to have to settle for an indoor location for any sketchcrawls happening during the wintermonths to get some proper work done.

@Thorsten

@ paradeisos
I was a bit surprised myself how different this batch turned out compared to my usual sketchwork. I think it might have been the lack of time plus I don't usually sketch much in urban settings, I'm more into nature and botanical stuff. It made for a nice change.

Awesome lines Silgoem. I love the iron work of interior structure.
