Muscat, Oman RESULTS

Post by travelingsuep »

SketchCrawl 24 was difficult for me here in Muscat as we still have high daytime temperatures and it is still Ramadan so there are no cool coffee shops or restaurants to retreat to. I was alone for my first SketchCrawl and had a great morning despite the heat and humidity. Check out my blog if you want more details. http://artofanomad.blogspot.com/2009/09 ... crawl.html I'm quite pleased with most of my results.

I started outside the fish market

Then went inside.
I got intimidated by onlookers and am not pleased with this page of sketches.

Back outside I did 2 more drawings.
First some fish:

and then watermelons on a truck.

I then changed location. This painting is unfinished as a tug came along and took my subject out to sea. There's a quick sketch of the tug on the top page.

Finally I went to my last location, Mutrah souq and sketched some stalls, before the heat and humidity drove me home.

Looks like you were able to do some very nice sketches in spite of the challenges!

Wow - what a great day you had. I really like the second one, with the cat on the bottom of the page - and the fish are great too.
But your colour painting stands out too.

Excellent effort. Nice people view. Cool fishes. Exotic market scene and lovely color scene too.

-- travelingsuep, I can breath and smell the market you have been. I like your reportage-style which adds this feeling.

Thanks for sharing!

Really nice results indeed! Very brave from you to go out in such conditions (alone, under the heat and during Ramadan)... very impressed you pulled out such good drawings!
I feel bad now... we were comfortably sitting in terraces most of the time drinking and eating! :?
I hope you find some crawlers to go along with you next time, so you can enjoy some company too!

Regards from Barcelona

Great sketches! Despite Ramadan and the heat and humidity, you had such a productive day  Love the last one and the cargo ship a lot.
