Munich/ Germany - [RESULTS]

Hello Sketchers in Munich and surrounding areas -

we will certainly do our sketchcrawl and hope for another increase in numbers (2 in Jan, 3 in April...) !
As the weather forecast is not really clear we will either do an outside crawl or visit a museum (my suggestions would be Völkerkundemuseum or Bayr.Nationalmuseum); because of travel times we will probably meet around 11 somewhere downtown.

If you want to join us, let me know (ideally with email or phone #) !!
See you all on Saturday.

Hello Karin,

I have been following the Sketchcrawl activities for a while but was away from Munich the last couple of times.
So, finally, this Saturday I will join in.

I will send you my mobile phone number by PM.
Looking forward to meet you,

Wolfgang

Hi Everybody,

with the weather being as unreliable as it is, I suggest to meet in front of

Voelkerkundemuseum, Maximilianstr. 42, downtown Munich
at 11.00 Saturday morning.

If we have good weather, we can walk to the Isar, towards Praterinsel and Dt.Museum etc.
If we have bad weather, we can just visit the museum and stay inside ...
they also have a nice cafe :-)

So see you on Saturday,
KarinH

Another 33% increase in sketchers this time !
Which means we were 4 this time....

Met at the Völkerkundemuseum and the weather did not look too bad (although much too cold for mid July ), so we walked over to the Praterinsel (a little island between Isar and the Isar"channel"):

Image

Then walked further down (or actually up the Isar) towards Dt.Museum and sketched the Müller'sches Volksbad (an indoor swimming pool !):

Image

The sketch itself is not quite as crooked as looks like here - seems that holding the book open while taking the photo was not such a good idea...

Had some nice lunch outside, then walked over to Gärtnerplatz:

So these were the Munich sketchers:

And then I did one more sketch to fill my book - the synagogue at Jakobsplatz:

Looking forward to seeing everybody's results - and the next sketchcrawl !

Lovely buildings drawings and I like the close up drawings of features. You are all dressed up warmly forJuly in the Northern Hemisphere!

Hi Alissa,
Thanks !
Yes it was a lovely day - if it had been end of September or October
They promise higher temperatures for next week but sometimes it looks like we had out summer in April/May when it was really nice...
I love your sketches from Sydney !!

Here are my sketches. (All are 30x21 cm)

The first sketch shows a scene at the Isar river in Munich. (Ink pen and water brush)
Image

The second sketch shows the outside of a swimming pool and old former public bath which has a beautiful art deco style inside. (Water-proof fine liner and ink pens with different color inks)
Image

The third sketch shows the entrance to a theater. In front, on a bench and on a low fence the three Munich Sketchcrawl ladies are at work. (Water-soluble pencils and water brush)
Image

I enjoyed the company of the three Sketchcrawl-experienced Munich ladies.

Thanks for your comments.

When I looked at my sketches again today, I saw that we quit drawing before I got around to draw in a little tree that is standing in front of the theater. I decided to add it from memory in order to break up the straight lines of the building a bit.

I was wiped out yesterday, didn't think a day of sitting around drawing would be so demanding. So I only managed to scan my sketches today, and my scanner wasn't the most cooperative, but here goes:

Müller'sches Volksbad:

There's some more explanation (and some of the photographs I took yesterday) on my blog.
