East, UK [RESULTS]

Post by Macaruba »

Hi

I made it out yesterday in the end and went on a family trip to Oxborough Hall in Norfolk. Oxborough Hall is a National Trust property and is more like a castle with gorgeous gardens and a fantastic moat. It turned out to be a great Sketchcrawl and we didn't get rained on too much.

Here's the first of many.

After the day out I spent the evening refining my sketches.

Here is the view of the Hall and the photo I took when I was there. I can't believe how different my live sketch is from the actual view.

A quick sketch of people at the picnic area at lunch time, with a queue for the Hall entrance in the background, sorry for the bad photo of these.

I think I do that often--telescoping points of interest on a structure closer together so that I'll get them all on my small sketch page. A handsome sketch by you, nontheless.

This is the tidied up version. The queue in the background wasn't in the same eyeline, I simply drew it next to my first sketch.
These people really went to town on their picnic, they had a proper wicker basket with plates, glasses and a bottle of white to go with it.

A queue is a very hard thing to sketch, when I started there was a completely different set of people standing there!

After our lunch, it did start to drizzle, so we moved on to The Chapel at Oxborough.
A memorial statue to Mary Trafford in the East window caught my eye first.

1. On the spot
2. Refined afterwards
3. Photo from the Chapel

After Oxborough we thought that we might stop off at the supermarket to buy some Willy's Chocolate
(Willy is a chocolate maker who has just had a show on the BBC in the UK).
No luck at Waitrose in Swaffham, all sold out, but we stopped for Coffee and milkshakes at their café instead.

I got some good ones in the café. A man reading his paper (2 angles), wifey and a lady with her hair pinned up.
