WAR
One of the most remarkable presences was Israel, with people from Tel Aviv and Galilea. On friday the participants had cancelled the event, due to the war engaged at the Gaza Strip. But lastly they decided to go to the streets, pencils and books in hand, to depict their cities.
"It was strongly symbolic, because it is a country enduring a cruel war, and even so, there were people willing to get over it and draw the city. Too bad the conditions did not favor any Palestinian participation", said Montalvo Machado, who organized Sketchcrawl in Vila Madalena.
One of the posted drawings was Marcello´s, from Galilea. He portrayed an olive tree, described as a symbol that brings "hope". Along with it the israeli sent to Sketchcrawl website a message in English: "Peace from Galilea to all places in the world where children, men and women die. Tomorrow may be your kid, your wife, your husband... That´s why we must live in peace".
