What a wonderful array of sketches for San Francisco - so many different styles and subjects. It is great to see the results from the day and to see the group photo too.

MarcTaro--beautiful sketches, your ink looks so black, what kind of pen are you using?
Venecys-loved how you showed the pic of your view and the resulting sketch--you captured it!
jshu-great sketch of your cramped view
janabouc-love your palette choices, especially the clarinet player and tugboats
miromi-ballpoint sketch nicely composed and rendered
colinadams-the truck is my favorite

marc_taro, I really admire your illustration style, the contrast between the linework and the solid black is great.

Oh, my, what wonderful sketches. Is everyone from San Francisco born to draw? I always love opening the SF thread because I know I will see great street people, boats and harbors, interesting buildings, etc. And I love that group photo. What fun it must be to "hang out" for a day with so many other sketchers.

I am so jealous of all of you in San Francisco!!! You have so many great spots and great weather to sketch in. No wonder so many of you turned out for the Sketchcrawl!!

Enrico - Your drawings of your little girl are precious!!! You got the toddler look perfectly.

Storydesign - Wonderful cafe sketches!

Pica - I admire that you can get such good drawings on a moving train.

John D - Great sketches. I love the one of the man with the huge soap bubble.

Colin - I don't know if I like the car, truck, temple, or people best!! Great job!

Miromi - Wonderful sketches!

Jana - Fabulous sketch of the clarinet player. love the sketches from lunch and the tugboats are super!

Gustavo - Nice sketches from the overlook. SF is such a wonderful place with views everywhere. Good work!

Jan - Flying and sketching...cool!

Donk - Great digitals!!

Marc - Your trees and temples are just wonderful.

Venecup - Good job. I like how you only suggested windows in some places. Good perspective!

Secondbrush - Love your buildings!! You got so many wonderful sketches done.

Wow, wonderful work ... all around ... and so diverse.
iphone color sketches, drawings from planes (Jay you were the highest SketchCrawler on earth!) to wonderful pen and ink sketches ...
great great!!!
And it was so amazing to see everyone at the end of the day at the De Young ... we counted almost 90 people there, which means (with the few crawlers we loose along the way during the day) we might have had around 100 artists drawing around San Francisco!!!!
Amazing !!! Congratulations everyone ... looking forward to the next one already!
thanks for the group photo Jim!!! Really cool ...

So here's my day's worth

First drawings of the day. I've found my daughter hard to capture. Cute as a button but it's so challenging to make that adorableness justice ... :) pretty happy with these though.

Then I set out around my neighborhood (Cole Valley) for a couple of sketches ...

After that I made my way to the De Young ... sat on one of the benches in front of the museum and tried to capture my field of vision.

Image

Lastly inside the De Young I started drawing people's backs ... no place like a museum for it ...

Image

And than I met everyone at the Cafe' for some Sketchbook sharing ...

hope everyone had a great time ... even with this "do it yourself crawl" ...

next one we'll go back to the usual format ...

Enrico, the sketch of people from the backside is absolutely charming!
SecondBrush--it might have been your first time to join the SF group, but definately not your first time to draw. Great buildings--you showed me a lot of SF, thanks.
