Toronto Ontario CANADA -- anyone up for a crawl?

Good news that the next Crawl date has been set. October 25 in Toronto ... the weather could be iffy for a totally outside location. But then again, if the folks in Sweden can do it outside in March (they are a total inspiration), then I guess we can call forth a little Canadian ruggedness and do it outside in October. Any suggestions for a good SketchCrawl location?

Hello again! I am excited to go for another sketchcrawling adventure...

I'd love to go to the zoo to sketch (total personal bias, I love drawing animals). It would give us the option to go inside if it starts in on a cold rain or early snow, or outside if it's lovely and warm. Along with all the animals, there will be people of all shapes and sizes out on a Saturday at the zoo, and weird buildings.

Cons include the trip out to the far east-side of the city and paying admission.

Let me know your thoughts!

Hi Liz,

I think the zoo is a totally awesome suggestion. Let's do it! Start time might have to be a little later than earlier, to allow for us downtowners to get out there. But I'm game for it. Haven't yet emailed my personal list, so I don't know if it will be just me, or there will be others.

Hello!
I've started emailing some people, and looks like we might have a few more joining us (or at least a different combination of people). Either way, looking forward to it!

Maybe we could meet just inside the main gates (to save time in line if people get there a bit early) at noon or 12:30? Is that too early? I'm pretty far east in the city now, so it won't be a problem for me, either way (although I still have to get there by TTC... on a Saturday).

Going to continue trying to round people up... :)

Hi Liz,

12 or 12:30 sounds OK to me. It's good that you've managed to get a few people interested. I'm a bit discouraged about the response from my own contacts last time, but I'm going to try again. I'll be out of town without a computer the week of Sept. 21-29 and have suspended the life drawing sessions I run out of my studio till Oct. 1, but I'm going to email my list before I go, and hope that at least one or two will want to come along. It's more fun to have a crowd ... but if I can't generate one of my own, I'll join yours. Looking forward to Oct 25 at the zoo!

I'm going to keep up with the emailing as well... here's hoping!

Sounds like fun! Haven't been to the zoo in a while. I'll be there with Kei Acedera and a few more artists.

Can I join too? I actually live near the zoo and I haven't been there in years!

Sure! Bring friends, too!

Bobby, it will be great to have you and Kei there (I recognize your work from the halls of Sheridan - I'm a recent grad)!

Looking forward to the 25th!

Hello
Can I come? I will try to drum up some interest among my drawing friends. Do you know if this event is advertised at all at schools etc? I was thinking about notifying Claude Watson School for the Arts at Earl Haig and Etobicoke's School for the Arts. They're high school artists. let me know if that isn't appropriate please?

Hi Catherine,
You (or anyone else!) are totally welcome, with any experience level and of any age. The more people, the more fun, right? I don't beleive the events are restricted to any kind of schools, so please pass on the information to anyone who might be interested! :D

Hey everyone,

I just called the zoo and since I'm a teacher, I organized this as a school trip from Sheridan College so we can get in for $9 instead of $20. :D It's under the name "Bobby Chiu"

Liz - looking forward to meeting you.

Bobby,

Thank you so much! For those of us who are coming from downtown Toronto, the trip itself will be expensive, and having a break on zoo admission is just terrific. This is definitely going to be the best Toronto SketchCrawl so far!

Hello!

Bobby- Thanks so much for organizing reduced payment at the zoo! I've probably rounded up another 4 people to join in on Saturday, but judging from the Facebook invite that was just forwarded to me there are going to be many more coming down! :)

Looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting some new Toronto-area artists!
