Toronto - [RESULTS]

The weather report was iffy, but three of us met down at the Distillery District at 11 a.m. to see how much sketching we could do. We did manage to meet up with the 3 hardy souls from Markham, but lost track of them later in the day (looking forward to seeing what they did, when they post it here on the site). It rained for a while and we took refuge in Balzac's (GREAT coffee, by the way). That's where the little Scottie dog I drew was waiting for his owner ... I don't usually draw animals but this little guy was irresistible. Nancy did her quick pen-and-ink sketches and was ready to move on to other activities by early afternoon. Catherine went home (sorry Catherine but the photos I took of your sketches were too blurry to submit), and I meandered home too, but stopped on the way to do a watercolour sketch of Katie Bethune-Leamen's fabulous mushroom studio/sculpture installation at the Toronto Sculpture Garden.

Scottie dog by Nikki...up till the last 30 seconds, the tail was tucked underneath the body ... then he saw his owner come out of the cafe...whoopee!

Hello all,
Here's some of what I did with a second little SketchCrawl group in Toronto (we met up with the group of previous post-ers briefly, and it was amazing to know there were people both in the city and around the world all sketching together!).

I went crazy over-board and added scrap paper to my sketches, and promise it looks slightly less horrifying in real life (especially the second sketch. Yikes).

I will try to get the sketches from the rest of our group shortly.
Thank-you everyone who came out!

Nicole - The Scottie dog is so cute! Wonderful watercolor of the mushroom sculpture! It looks like it is a building..is it?

Nancy - Nice people sketches!! The one of the parent and child is precious!!!!

Lizabeth - Great job on the distillery and all those windows! Love the looseness of the coffee shop people. Great one of the market too!! You may not have used wc for a while, but you did really well with them.

Thanks for the comments on my sketches, Joan! :)

Here's a contribution from Pat (who came out to sketch in Toronto):

All of my images, as well as Pat's image, have also been posted on a collective blog we belong to (notanoctagon.blogspot.com), along with a brief commentary on the day and the places we went to sketch (for those not familiar with the city).
