Updated Forum

Post by gustavo »

Greetings,

I upgraded the forum a couple of hours ago, please reply to this post if you notice any strange behavior.
In the near future we may turn some features off and/or enable others, all depending on their use and the impact they have on the site in general.

Please keep this specific topic with content related only with potential upgrade issues.
If you have any suggestions please use the suggestion topic.

Thanks
Gustavo

Maximum picture width

Post by Thorsten »

Thank you for editing and upgrading, Gus.

... this, in fact, isn't an update-issue ... more or less a downgrade ;-) Pictures, which are wider than this frame, are cut of and not fully displayed any longer. Hm, is this an advantage or disadvantage? Maybe we should find out, what the maximum width for uploaded is, and might announce / attach it as a sticky post somewhere ;-)

Take care,
Thorsten

Yeah, I see what you mean.
The issue has to do with the new default template. While the width of the forum is not restricted in any way currently, since the names of the authors are on the right hand side instead of the left, it seems the template wont perpetually expand (like it was before) - we would never see the names.

Something to think about.

.... well, I like to see the images just as wide as my monitor is, because the other way around the written lines also would have to be scrolled all the way from left to right. So I am really fine with the width-"restriction". Maybe someone can measure out the maximum width ;-)

I found a tweak in phpbb.com, it basically forces the external image to display 100% so now no matter what resolution you are using when you view the forum, it will display the whole image (granted if the image is too large it will look distorted, but at least one can see it completely).
