Anyone got any ideas/suggestions?

I think the British Museum might be a good meeting place, but if anyone has any better ideas I'm game. Also, if someone could suggest a good pub for lunch that might be nice. :)

Well if Pete from Davis can chime in, I will too. Last time I was at the British Museum I was able to witness the extraordinary crush of people to get in right at ten, and point their camera at the Rosetta Stone, and then turn and move on as if it were some kind of race (which, alas, it probably is, when you have only one day and the museum demands at least a week if not a lifetime). That moment, though, was worth sketching in itself. I had a fantastic time sketching in that room and the next and had to come back another couple of times even to venture beyond the ground floor...

sorry

Post by caroline »

Sorry, I had to post those 2 sketches quick: my computer decided that it wanted to scan itself for viruses and then restart.

The first building is where I live: it's a Victorian hospital in E. London that was converted into flats and then had a new estate built in the grounds. It's been a orphan asylum for the children of merchant seamen, a home for "fallen women" and a lunatic asylum.
The other sketch is my local high street.

Next Sketchcrawl I'd like to meet up in town: but this time I had to go to IKEA, so no time. Apologies.
Cheers

--- your various lines develop a great style, Caroline .. well, in fact, it's you ;-)

I like the depths and rare use of grey!

Sketch Crawl UK

Post by Macaruba »

Hi Everyone,

I've just joined SketchCrawl and saw the Sketch Day was running only last Friday. I couldn't get to London or anywhere special for my day but I tried to keep my sketch pad with me all the time.

Here are my first 2 just at home in Suffolk UK.

1. The morning after and the results of Jamie Oliver shoulder of Lamb mmmm.

2. The "out"laws visit. Just sitting and chatting makes for great subjects.

More to follow.
Cheers

Caroline - Both of your sketches are great. You have really nice lines in them. Love the one of your street.

Macaruba - It's great that you got some sketching done at home. Nice kitchen sketch and good job on the "out"laws.
