Conestoga Wagon
The owner of Trail Dust Town, Don Bates, has a nice collection of antique wagons on the property. One could make a whole day of just drawing wagons. My fellow sketchers make some beautiful and accurate renderings.

Red salvia, prolific plant in Arizona's Sonoran Desert
I look forward to these blooming each year.

An ocotillo in a planter.
A plant well suited to the desert. In the heat of day the leaves fold close to the branches to conserve water and lower the plant's temperature. During the evening or during wetter days the leaves spread open. I added the red-orange flowers. They are lovely in the late spring. In fact the whole Sonoran Desert is bursting with color in the spring.

A replica of an old saloon sign.
After this sketch we crawled home. It was a good day. Thank you, Donna!
