My daughter & I ran up to Cave Creek this afternoon for a late SketchCrawl. We only ended up with about 3 hours but we banged out a few despite some biting ants, high heat and hot places to sit. Thankfully the temperature (though above 100) dropped over 10 degrees from what it has been for the last few weeks. We had such a good time and can’t wait for #16.

We’ll post a few more tomorrow and perhaps a re-scan or two as I battle our scanner for some accurate rendering of washes. Some photos are on their way up as well!

We spent some time driving around looking for a good place to sketch. Amy manned the camera while I drove the Jeep. Cave Creek is an awesome little town with lots of studios, coffee shops and wine bars (plus many combinations thereof). The backdrop is composed of rocky hills, cactus with an occasional resort or golf course. Here is a small sampling of some of the photos:

That's a really nice and funny banner. Great to see the other sketches and photos too.

I've featured your banner in my blog post about the sketchcrawl ( http://makingamark.blogspot.com/2007/08 ... sults.html )- please let me know if that's not OK and I'll take it down. Current attribution is to crgscas of Phoenix, Arizona - ditto - I can change this if you let me know

This one (http://www.craigcassidy.com/projects/sk ... 15_800.jpg) wan an early pass I liked but my family veto'd it. You are welcome to link to any of this!

Alisa: yes WAY too hot, looking forward to the next one in cooler weather, let us know if you will be back in AZ during one of them.

donnam: thanks! we will totally take you up on that - haven't been down that way in years. Did you catch up with the san francisco crew?

Yes, I met the SF group, took some photos of them that I will post as soon as I have time. Tried to do some sketching, but seemed to be in left brain mode--probably cuz my husband was with me--non artist, so I think I was too concerned for him and his boredom

:D It must have been fun to be in a cooler climate and to connect with another (huge) scketchcrawl group though!
