So ... as far as I can tell I might be sketching from out of town for this one (I have a trip scheduled to Santa Fe on that weekend)
.... nevertheless it's time to start throwing ideas around !
Whereabout would you like to spend this first SketchCrawl of the new year ?

what no replies yet?
At the risk of being crass, since it's St Patrick's day, perhaps a pub/sketch crawl is in order? Maybe around Filmore or North Beach? We do have some architecturally significant pubs floating about, along with some stunningly garish storefronts

Hi,
Great weather in Berkeley on Sat. Had a good time.
Here are my results:
A Spanish style church on... I don't even remember the name of the street.
Watching the Cal Bears baseball team warm up.
The ferocious bony T-Rex.
Does anyone know the proper name of these knobby trees that are up by the clock tower?

Great sketches and detailed studies
dOtto! The knobbly trees are I think London plane trees. They get freakier yet at a certain time of the year when they grow antennas and spikes!
To the SF Chapter...thanks for letting the Berkeley/East Bay group borrow your people. They'll be returned back, in time for the next Crawl.

Yup - Plane trees. Very "Edward Scissorhands" when they start sprouting branches!

I posted some drawings from when me and my two friends Hanna and Salem went on our own sketchcrawl last Saturday. Fueled solely by alcohol and indian cuisine, we had a great time and saw a lot of drunk college students in north beach. And yet, I drew none of them...or did I?
