There were only three of us who took the train to Portland, but we had a great time. (I'll scan and post drawings soon). We walked from the depot to the Art Museum then to Powell's (huge bookstore) to meet Amber, from the SF sketchcrawl group, with a "quick" stop at Art Media, a very good art supply store.
It was fun meeting Amber who is moving to La Grande. Good luck Amber. She had some fine quick sketches and I hope she stays in touch.
I sometimes think there is nothing so delightful as drawing.

These were all done at the Hesse exhibition at the Portland Art Musuem. The first is an engraved gun stock - my apologies to the engraver. The next is a small terracotta sculpture of hunting dogs and a bear. It was about 6-8 inches tall. Then there's a gilded Letter "C". The Sabina was some lettering on a painting. The tall one is of a "table fountain" - gold. The explanation said that wine was poured in the top (in cup on top of Venus' head) where it run down, through her breasts to the next cup held by cupid and on down to a basin below from where it was served. I'll bet the wine didn't have a screw top.

this last one was at the train station on the way back.

It was a great day. I hope more people show up next time, but some may have stayed closer to home and will still post their drawings.

Beautiful sketches

Hi Carol!

Beautiful sketches!

Thanks so much for meeting up with me in Portland. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and sharing a little caffiene-injected sketch at the very cool Powell's bookstore cafe. It was really comforting to meet other like minded artists--any excuse to drive west of the Cascades! Haha...

It may be a few days before I can get my sketches up here in since I'm back on the road again this week and won't be near a scanner for a few days.

Yes, let's keep in touch!
