Davis CA sketchcrawl

We met at a coffee shop at 10:30 in the morning, collected an amazing 10 people, and, aside from Biga, lost all but one of them within a half hour. We wandered around drawing, and finished up at about 3:30 at another coffee shop with myself, Alison, Alan, and biga.

Great fun, and even a turnout of four was more than I had expected!

I'll scan some of my stuff shortly.

Thanks Emma!

You lost em?

Does this mean you all started out in one place and spread out in different directions, or that people came for just a short while?

Looking forward to more pix!

Well, we started out with ten people, and most of them wandered off... they didn't join up with us again, so I have no idea where they went! I think next time I organize a sketchcrawl I'm going to try and herd everyone a bit more, bring up the rear, so we don't lose people who just don't know what to do next. I have a sneaking feeling that yesterday wasn't really that welcoming to first-timers (eep). Something to improve upon!

A couple of sketches

It was fun to get back to Davis and see how much has changed, yet stayed the same. Emma did a very good job of promoting the event, as it made it into the largest newspaper in the county, so kudos to her promotion.

Here are a couple of sketches. I may put a few more up if I get them a little more complete.

This is an Egghead. There are several on the UCDavis campus.

This is a building on the UCDavis campus, nick named the death star. What I like most about this is this is the first sketchcrawl drawing on mine that was in color. I was a little jealous from the Alcatraz crawl that I went out and bought some water colors. I don't feel comfortable enough with them yet to do it on the go, so I brought some markers.

Yes! Biga, I was hoping you were going to post that Death Star one... it's awesome. Totally got the colors on the nasty concrete walls...

My computer (which has the software for my scanner) has gone comatose, and won't turn on... seems like every crawl I go to, my computer dies on me before I can scan my stuff. ARGH.

and... the park was not such a brilliant shade of green (not to mention the liberties I took with putting blossoms or whatever those are on the red tree), but I'm tired of winter and felt like coloring spring...
