Re: Phoenix, AZ - USA

To get to the Talking Stick Resort and casino take the 101 and get off at E. Indian Bend. Then head east. Go straight ahead past N.Dobson and a short distance down E. Indian Bend on the left there will be a large sign which (I believe) says Casino Arizona. Turn left there. Ignore the first driveway ...

Walking Stick Resort....again

Hi everyone..... I just returned from the Walking Stick Resort in north Scottsdale after another one of those really nice meals at the Wandering Horse Buffet. I took a walk around the resort from the inside (looking out). I really think it would be a nice place for a sketchcrawl. With the weather be...

Re: Phoenix, AZ - USA

Last year I took the light rail the full distance and back from the Christown stop to see what it was like. Very hard seats and can't remember much about the scenery. What did you have in mind?

Re: Phoenix, AZ - USA

Was that really a suggestion or a hint. Did YOU have someplace in mind? Speaking of food......my husband and I were looking for a new restaurant. He had heard about the Wandering Horse Buffet at the Walking Stick resort/casino off of Pima Rd. and Indian Bend. Very easy to get to from the 101. Lunch ...

Ciao,

Enjoyed looking at all your sketches. I was in Rome in August and took lots of photos of Rome and towns in Umbria to sketch, too.

Re: Phoenix, Arizona, USA [RESULTS]

While we were having lunch at the zoo, two young admirers decided to join Craig to try their hand at sketching, too. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4126/5091659620_ddf60db601.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4108/5091659624_d758cc935a.jpg As is my usual mode of operation, I photograph scenes I lik...

Re: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Okay for the Phoenix Zoo. Just as a side comment NOT related to the Sketchcrawl. For you participants that are on the far east side of "greater Phoenix" check out Schnepf Farm. It looks like a fun place for some Autumn fun. http://www.schnepffarms.com/ It's in Queen Creek. But fo...

Re: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Annie, I looked at the website. There is nothing on their calendar for the 16th. They have a store but sell pumpkins which they don't grow themselves.....no fields of pumpkins. Hay Craig, do you know anything about Mother Natures Farm in Gilbert? There are some animals but don't know how close you a...

Re: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Too bad this sketchcrawl isn't closer to Halloween. There are going to be some interesting events for El Dia de Los Muertos at the Botanical Garden toward the end of October. Something that would inspire a feeling of Autumn would be nice dispite the fact that the weather really isn't cooperating. Fe...

Re: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

If this weather stays miserable, I might just opt to do my sketchcrawling around my yard this time. There is plenty to sketch. Maybe this sketchcrawl could be a mix of locations? Don't see any consensus of opinion so far. :|

Re: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

The World Zoo in Litchfield Park sounds interesting. I have never been there. Considering how the heat seems to refuse to go away maybe this would be a better option than the Phoenix Zoo. Do you know how much student admission is?

Re: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Phoenix Zoo sounds good to me. By the middle of October we should be having decent temperatures again. What is the second zoo option? :eh:
